What are the features of a company with registered capital of 5 million baht or more?

Firstly, such a company will no longer be considered a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) and the corporate income tax, therefore, will be paid at the standard rate of 20% (rather than an increasing rate set for SME).

Secondly, when registering a company, DBD (Business Development Department) will require proof of payment of the authorized capital in excess of 5 million baht.

For example, registering a company with an authorized capital of 8 million baht, the procedure may be as follows:

1. Register the company (registered capital of 5 million baht)

2. Open a company bank account

3. Deposit of 3 million baht to the company account

4. Increase in the authorized capital of the company up to 8 million baht (upon presentation of a bank account statement of the company in DBD)
