How to inherit in Thailand

How to inherit in Thailand

Regardless of whether the last will was made or not, you can enter into the inheritance in Thailand only by the court procedure.

If the last will has not been made the heir must provide to the court in addition to the death certificate- a power of attorney from all the heirs or a letter of renunciation of the inheritance. And those other documents drawn up abroad must be notarized, translated into Thai and legalized.

If you claim to be the sole heir, you enter the inheritance, but after some time it turns out that there are other persons who have the right to claim the inheritance in Thailand, they have the right to challenge the court decision.

The hearing will be scheduled within 2 months after the filing of documents in court. The presence of an heir is mandatory in the hearing. ⠀

The title to the estate of the heir may be registered with the land department one month after the court decision.
