Many companies close their offices and let employees work online from home. But what to do if there is no work because of covid-19? What should business owners do with employees for whom there is no job?

The Social Security Fund approved on Friday the amount of compensation for employees registered in the fund who stopped working due to coronavirus (if they pay contributions to the Fund for at least 6 months during the period of 15 months). The rules are valid from March 1, 2020.

The amount of compensation is calculated from the monthly salary, but not more than 15,000 Baht.

If the business is suspended due to a virus, the Fund pays 50% of the salary, the maximum compensation period is up to 180 days:

15,000 x 50% = 7,500 baht per month, total not more than 45,000 baht

If the business is suspended by government order, the Fund pays 50% of the salary, the maximum compensation period is up to 60 days:

15,000 x 50% = 7,500 baht per month, total not more than 15,000 baht

In case of dismissal of an employee, the Fund pays 70% of the salary, the maximum term of compensation is up to 200 days:

15,000 x 70% = 10,500 baht per month, total not more than 70,000 baht

If an employee resigns of his own decision, the Fund pays 45% of the salary, the maximum compensation period is up to 90 days:

15,000 x 45% = 6,750 baht per month, totala not more than 20,250 baht

In case of business suspension of private entrepreneurs who are not registered with the Social Security Fund they will have the right to receive compensation in the amount of 30% of the salary, the maximum compensation period is up to 90 days:

15,000 x 30% = 5,000 baht per month, total not more than 15,000 baht

The employer must fill out a form of the business suspension due to force majeure on the Social Security Fund website for employees to have the right to apply to the Fund for compensation.
