Thai New Year

On the eve of the celebration of the Thai New Year (Songkran festival) it became known about the cancellation of the celebration of this event on Khao San Road in Bangkok. These measures are connected with the fact that the country is officially in the mourning period in connection with the death of the beloved King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) in last October and the immediate proximity this street to the Grand Palace, where people come from all over the country to pay tribute to the beloved king.

We remind you, official holidays in the country from 13 to 16 of April 2017. However, in tourist places such as Pattaya city it is traditionally delayed for a week and reaches its culmination on April 19, when this holiday is celebrated in the city with the greatest scope.

In addition, probably during the peak days of the celebration, the alcohol ban may be introduced in the country.
